Fall Makeunder

So last week, the Mr. was out of town.

Which meant that all the crazy broke out. Everything was in chaos, including the big dog deciding to remove his leg bandage and then try to remove his surgery stitches at midnight. I ended up staying up with him all night until the vet opened in the morning.

And I always do soooo well on no sleep.

My skin is like a dime store mood ring and I wear stress and sleeplessness on my face.

So I look awful.

And of course I’m filming this week.

I’ve been scouring the interwebs to see what works. I’m mixing up a cocktail of Juice Beauty’s Blemish Clearing Serum, Dr. Dennis Gross peels, with the Neutrogena light thingy that looks like a stormtrooper mask.

I’ve resolved that I have to start taking better care of myself and maybe drink a glass of water once in a while. I’ll get to that as soon as I write my blog post on balance (I kid you not.)

Jennifer of A Well Styled Life is my go-to blogger for this kind of thing and, recently, she posted what’s in her makeup bag. She always has good tips. And her discipline is admirable!

I need to take a page from her.

In the meantime, I use Cle de Peau concealer stick like barn paint. I swear, it costs me about $15 per day. That should give me some incentive to get my act together.

For that much money, I’m going to look like this, right?

Are you a regular skincare person or do you go into a Sephora panic when things go awry?

  1. As “gwenyth”as it sounds, I do believe you are what you eat. I also get a facial peel every other month…worth the money over goop….ooooh, another “gwenyth” pun…in a jar. When in doubt tea tree oil for blemishes.

  2. Hi Jen, how exciting that you are doing so much filming – I have watched a little bit and you acquit yourself very well!

I'm very into skincare, not so far that I'm buying Crème de la Mer (can't afford that), but I love reading blogs etc. about it. My favourite is Caroline Hirons; she is a British facialist, very no-nonsense and funny. Her blog has a lot of posts about the basics (look under 'cheat sheets' at the top of the page). I also love to watch the YouTube channel called The Gothamista – she is American and talks a lot about Korean skincare. She has a lovely manner.

I've seen you on video and you look great, so don't worry about it! And I just googled the Neutrogena mask thingy – hmm, that may be a bridge too far, even for me!

  3. Awww. Thank you for the kind words. The mask thingy looks weird but it's 10 minutes of forced downtime which is a stress buster if nothing else. I'll check out those links. Thank you! xo

  4. So funny you mention face masks! I've been eyeing them lately and thinking my parched skin needs them. Goodness knows it needs something extra. I think you look fantastic Jen! I'm with BB, I use Tea Tree oil for blemishes. Works great for nail fungus and athletes foot too! xox

Love to hear from you!
